Methodology and Approach
Methodology and Approach
User experience (UX) is intricately intertwined with both brand leadership and graphic design, as it shapes how users perceive and interact with a brand's visual identity, fostering a seamless and meaningful connection between design elements and user interactions.
Every new product, whether it’s an app or a physical object, follows a specific set of steps that take it from the first spark of an idea to the release of the final product. This is called the product development life cycle, and it has five stages: brainstorm, define, design, test, and launch. Depending on where you work, the exact names of each stage might be a little different, but the overall process is generally the same.Â
Here is the approach that we have been always following: the Design Thinking framework to sequence the assignments that contribute to the designs The Design Thinking framework is a user-centered approach to problem-solving that includes activities like research, prototyping, and testing to help you understand who your user is, what their problems are, and what your design should include.

GIBSON BRANDS
In my role as a key contributor to the development of the Gibson app, my journey began with a vision to create a platform that resonated deeply with young guitarists eager to learn and master their craft. To bring this vision to life, I harnessed the power of collaboration and innovation, seamlessly integrating my ideas with the team's collective expertise.
At the outset, I recognized the significance of fostering a collaborative environment where ideas could flow freely. Through brainstorming sessions and team discussions, I initiated dialogues that encouraged everyone to share their insights and creative concepts. By actively listening to my colleagues and valuing their perspectives, I was able to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect, where diverse viewpoints could thrive.
Central to my approach was the utilization of design tools like Figma and Sketch. Recognizing their potential to facilitate remote collaboration, I championed the use of these platforms. By utilizing Figma, we could simultaneously work on design iterations, swiftly iterating and refining concepts. Sharing files on Figma became our modus operandi, allowing us to collaborate in real time, offer immediate feedback, and collectively fine-tune the design elements.
As a leader within the team, I took on the role of reiterating and refining the design. I ensured that our design iterations stayed true to the user-centered approach we aimed for. This involved meticulously revisiting our initial concepts, integrating user feedback, and aligning each design element with the user stories we had crafted. Through constant iterations and adjustments, we transformed raw ideas into a polished user experience.
Leading the team wasn't about dictating solutions but about fostering an environment where everyone's input was valued. I encouraged open discussions, welcomed feedback, and empowered team members to take ownership of their contributions. This collaborative spirit led to a fluid exchange of ideas, resulting in a design that seamlessly harmonized creativity with functionality.
In conclusion, my journey with the Gibson app was marked by a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. By integrating my ideas with the team's expertise and leveraging tools like Figma and Sketch, we not only materialized a remarkable guitar learning platform but also cultivated a culture of teamwork and creative exploration.
in our approach as a company, we engage in conducting interviews within our portfolio of projects, following the methodology outlined below:
Crafting Consistent Interview Questions: We begin by developing a set of questions that will be posed to all interviewees. While maintaining question consistency is a recommended practice, this list serves as a framework. We recognize that adaptations may be necessary to gain deeper insights into the user and their challenges.
Preparation of Resources: Prior to each interview, we assemble the necessary supplies. This includes items such as a computer, a printed version of the question list, or basic stationery. If the interview involves new tools or technology, we ensure a thorough understanding of their functionality beforehand.
Understanding User Profiles: A critical step involves researching the individuals selected for interviews. We invest time in comprehending the background and preferences of each interviewee. Personal details provided by users are noted, encompassing their name, demographics, pertinent experience with our product, and how they became aware of the interview opportunity. This information becomes a foundation for extending discussions during the interview and building rapport. Additionally, we employ platforms like LinkedIn to authenticate participants' identities, guarding against potential mismatches or competitive involvement.
Practicing the Interview: We emphasize the significance of practice before conducting actual interviews. This practice enables refinement of the question set and ensures the interviews unfold seamlessly. It's also an avenue to assess interview duration and consider adjustments to the question lineup. Whether practicing in front of a mirror or with a trusted colleague, this step helps refine our interviewing skills and enhance the overall process.
Our dedicated efforts were concentrated on crafting impactful "user stories," a particularly focal point within the context of the Gibson app. This application caters specifically to young, aspiring guitarists, guiding them on their journey to master the art of playing the guitar.
We meticulously constructed these user stories, each one reflecting the unique experiences and aspirations of budding guitarists. These narratives serve as windows into the lives of our target audience, allowing us to empathize with their challenges, goals, and musical aspirations. By delving into their stories, we gained valuable insights into the various stages of their guitar learning adventure, from the initial moments of excitement to the eventual triumphs and breakthroughs.
These user stories act as guiding lights throughout the development process, ensuring that every feature, interaction, and design element aligns seamlessly with the real-world needs of our young guitarist community. By weaving their experiences into the fabric of the app, we not only enhance its usability but also create a sense of belonging for our users, fostering a genuine connection between them and the platform. In essence, our focus on creating compelling user stories has been instrumental in shaping the Gibson app into a transformative tool for the next generation of guitar enthusiasts.
